Carpet Cleaning SEO Case Study: 214% Organic Growth for a Family-Run Columbus Brand

Arch City Carpet Care is a leading carpet cleaning company based in Columbus, Ohio. Founded as a family business, they built a loyal customer base across decades of service, and a reputation that spills over into specialty rug, upholstery, and tile work.

When they came to us, they had strong word of mouth, repeat commercial contracts, and a brand the city genuinely trusted.

The problem was that none of that showed up online. Their traffic concentrated around branded searches, their service pages were thin, and competitors with half their reputation held the top spots for the searches that actually produce bookings.

Competitive Context

The Columbus carpet cleaning landscape is crowded: franchise operators, national brands, and lead-generation directories dominate the first page and the Map Pack. For a family business, competing head-on for broad terms was not realistic, so we repositioned the campaign entirely.

Project Overview

Our initial audit surfaced hundreds of technical errors, orphaned pages, and indexing issues. That told us something important: fixing the foundation mattered more than publishing more content or chasing links.

We designed the 14-month campaign around one principle: fix the dependencies first, then scale the outputs.

The simplified work order looked like this: technical health, then page-level targeting and structure, then content and local presence, then authority building.

Where they ranked before the campaign

Before the campaign, Arch City ranked only for its own brand name and a handful of low-volume variations. Their commercial carpet cleaning page, the highest-ticket service, sat outside the top fifty results.

Review profile gaps

380 reviews at 4.8 stars was respectable, but 68% of them were older than two years. Competitors with fresher review velocity were overtaking them in the Map Pack despite fewer total reviews.

Technical findings from the full audit

The audit found broken redirects left over from an old site migration, missing service schema, slow mobile rendering, and a sitemap that excluded every location page. Each item was small; together they explained the flat traffic line.

Content findings from the full audit

Three service pages covered nine different services between them. Specialty work, Oriental rugs, commercial tile, upholstery, had no dedicated pages at all, despite being the company's margin drivers.

The five phases of our 14-month process

We divided the campaign into five connected phases rather than a rigid start-and-stop schedule:

1 Technical foundation
2 Page-level targeting
3 Content depth
4 Local presence
5 Authority building

Scaling the outputs

As each phase landed, the next one accelerated. Technical fixes made the new content index faster; the new content gave the review pipeline something relevant to attach to; the review growth fed the Map Pack; and the Map Pack fed the commercial pages.

Rankings and traffic outcomes

By month fourteen, organic traffic had grown 214%, the commercial cleaning page held a top-3 position, and 118 keywords ranked in the top three overall, including every keyword in the original gap analysis.

Leads and bookings outcomes

Traffic mattered because it booked: monthly quote requests nearly doubled, and the commercial side of the business grew for the first time without door-knocking.

Business Outcome

Arch City added two crews to handle demand and opened a Dublin service line that now generates its own waitlist. Marketing went from an afterthought to a system the owners check every Monday.

Client Testimonial

"We spent two decades building a reputation and one year making the internet match it. The weekly reports made sense to everyone in the office, even the ones who still call it 'the computer thing.'"

Owner, Arch City Carpet Care

Final Results

214% organic growth, 118 top-3 keywords, and a commercial pipeline that no longer depends on referrals alone. The engine keeps running: every month the review pipeline, location pages, and content library compound on each other.
